Before you color your hair at home, be sure to get a haircut or a good trim. The reason for this is because; split ends absorb more color which can cause hair color to look uneven. When you are trying to decide on a color, always stop and check out the color results on the side of the box. NOT the models’ hair on the front of the box.
If after coloring your hair the texture of the volume of your hair changes, don’t be afraid to try another brand. Experts say it’s a good idea to do a hot oil treatment 3 days before coloring, to prepare your hair strands to take on color. After color, avoid heat for a day or two so that your color has had time to settle and grab onto your strands. If you do you heat however, ALWAYS use a heat protectant.
If you are feeling a bit anxious about trying a bold new shade, try mixing your color with a conditioner of your choosing. This is a popular remedy that dilutes the intensity of the color and increases the color’s lasting power.
